Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) is celebrated every year on November 1st and 2nd* in Mexico and other Latin American countries and communities. It is believed that during these two days the souls of the dead are allowed to return to the world of the living and visit their families. It’s a joyous occasion, filled with traditions for honoring and celebrating the lives of deceased family and friends.
Leading up to this festive time, the Ethnic Heritage Museum is hosting a Children's Workshop, with a variety of crafts and activities celebrating and teaching about Day of the Dead. Join us Saturday, October 21st in making:
* November 1, Día de los Angelitos (Day of the Little Angels), is dedicated to the souls of deceased children. November 2nd is for the souls of adults.

Join us in building this year's Community Ofrenda (Altar) for Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead). From papel picado, papel flores, photos, and more...we need your help setting up the festive decorations and filling the Ofrenda with photos (copies) of loved ones and their favorite things.
Dia de los Muertos is a Mexican holiday where families welcome back the souls of their deceased relatives for a brief reunion that includes food, drink and celebration.
Did you know the roots of Day of the Dead date back 3,000 years?
