The Ethnic Heritage Museum
In celebration of October as Italian Heritage Month, the Ethnic Heritage Museum has scheduled three guest speakers, each of whom will share their cultural experiences and insights that shaped and influenced their lives. Topics range from food and travel to art and genealogy and visitors will have the opportunity to gain insights into the Italian culture. All events take place on Sunday afternoons.
Rose Mary Leggio, travel specialist and owner of Cucina di Rosa Italian restaurant will appear on Sunday, October 16, from 1 to 4 p.m. Rose has arranged several tours of Sicily for local travelers. Local artist and author Karla Clark will appear on Sunday, October 23, from 1 to 4 p.m. Karla has written nine books – five children’s picture books, three novels and a book of short stories. She also creates paper collages in her art studio. Italian genealogist specialist Salvato will be available to help individuals on their searches for family roots on October 20, from 1 to 4 p.m. Steve has hundreds of thousands of family names in his data base and his research includes walking graveyards in Sicily. |
